ATSF Business Car #403 was built by Pullman in 1925. It is a "shorty" (60' long) all steel business car equipped with 37" wheels, has an electric generator mounted on one axle, and is steam heated. This car was used by Santa Fe division superintendents in Texas and New Mexico as they traveled on railroad business. This is the only car in the Museum's inventory that was on the roster of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad. Enter the car from the rear. Before mounting the steps to the observation deck, note the rearward facing marker lights. The lamp body can be rotated to display different color lenses facing to the rear of the car. As you arrive on the deck, note the hand brake handle by the deck railing. |
