The layout in Theater 3 is now complete and was dedicated in a ceremony on August 27th. At this ceremony, Andrew Herron, for whom
the layout is named, received a life membership to the Museum from Board Chair John Bertini while Andrew’s mom looked on.
Board members Ken Douglas and Morris Gould, with assistance of several members of the Beaumont model railroad club, created a magnificent 4 track layout with a winter scene. The mountains and flat areas are snow covered. Fluorescent stars are attached to the ceiling. When the overhead lights are turned off, the stars glow and the lights in the homes cast a glow on the “snow" around them. The effect is enhanced by the roar of diesel engines and the staccato exhaust bark of a steam engine as they run around the layout. The Museum is extremely grateful to the Herron family for their donation of this magnificent addition to its attractions. |
