Hurricane Ike hit the Galveston, Texas area as a high Catagory 2 (110 miles per hour) and with a storm surge of a Catagory 4 hurricane. The National Hurricane Center cited tropical storm and hurricane force winds extending 275 miles (445km) and 120 miles (190 km) respectively, from the center.
The entire Galveston Railroad Museum went underwater, ranging from about 4 ft. to as high as 13 ft., as the dirty salt water swept
up from the Bay. We are doing everything possible to salvage as much as possible. Currently, the Museum has limited temporary electricity, no phones (the number has been forwarded to cell phones), no fax, therefore alternate arrangements have been made.
Any and all help or donations are greatly appreciated!
